Political and corporate leaders keep harping about safer environments. But safety features create more dangers because of risk compensation leading to bigger, dumber risk-taking behaviours. But there's a better way.
Wise words Alvin! I too look both ways when crossing the street and taught my children to do so, too. When they asked why, I responded, “Are you ok with only being killed by stupid people?”

A lot of road cyclists over here gripe about disrespectful drivers (for good reason), but nobody seems to talk about cyclists being disrespectful to pedestrians. Maybe it's a matter of "respect for me and not for thee..." 🤷♂️
